Reservation / Booking

To reserve a car just follow the three (3) steps on our website. In each step you will be asked to provide some of your personal information and booking details. Please ensure the accuracy of your entries, to enable a smooth pick-up and return. Payment on arrival. It could not be safer

Car hire at Thessaloniki airport or hotel in Chalkidiki with the most secure booking system there is: payment on arrival. Payment on arrival means that you pay for the rental car only when receiving the car in Greece (Thessaloniki airport or hotel in Chalkidiki). With our reservation system, you need no down payment and do not need to give credit card details over the internet. Payment is due immediately upon delivery of the car. You can pay cash or by credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

Last minute booking

Bookings made less than 48 hours before pick-up are only possible by telephone on tel: 0030 2310 762 780. The same applies to bookings of less than three days.

Age of driver

The age of the driver must be at least 21 years for categories A, B, C, D and 23 years for categories F and G. The maximum age is 75 years.

Driving license

The driver must have held a valid driving license for at least one year. Citizens from outside the EU additionally need a valid International Driving License.

Driver's license / ID card

At vehicle pick-up, the driver and the second driver must present a valid driving license and identification card. If no valid driving license or ID card is presented, the rental cannot take place. Faxed or photocopied driving licenses and identity cards are not accepted.

Insurance

The following insurances are included in the price:

• (FDW) Fully comprehensive insurance
• Theft insurance with no deductible
• Fire insurance without excess
• Liability insurance: a) for bodily injury to third parties up to €500,000; b) for property damage to third parties up to €500,000
• Accident insurance for the driver, covering death and full or partial incapacity up to €15,000

The insurance does not cover theft of or damage to personal belongings contained inside the rental car.

Insurance coverage is cancelled, with the renter bearing the full cost of all resulting damages (including to third parties), in the following cases:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• In the event of hit-and-run, if the following points were not observed: 1. immediate notification of GRCAR; 2. reporting the accident to the police; 3. documenting the names and addresses of the persons involved and witnesses; 4. not removing the car from the accident scene unless instructed to do so by GRCAR or the police
• The vehicle was misused for illegal purposes
• Driving with an overloaded car, beyond the weight/occupancy limit stated in the vehicle's registration (e.g. 4 seatbelts, i.e. 4 persons permitted)
• Driving by an unauthorized person not registered in the rental contract
• The vehicle was used for racing or other competitions
• The vehicle was used on unsuitable roads, e.g. gravel roads or on the beach
• Violation of Greek traffic law

The following are NOT covered by insurance and are borne by the renter: the underside of the car, tires, rims (including flat-tire repair), all glass and windshield damage, antenna, locks and keys, windshield wipers, mirrors, interior trim, ashtrays, upholstery, child seats, radio/CD system, engine damage from incorrect fueling, a flat battery due to the renter's own carelessness (e.g. headlights left on while the vehicle was parked).

In the event of an accident or damage, please note the following points: 1. try to remain calm; 2. please notify GRCAR immediately; 3. make an accident report with the police and write an accident statement; 4. write down the names and addresses of all persons involved and witnesses; 5. do not move the vehicle from the accident site unless instructed to do so by us or the police.

Additional insurance

The following additional insurance can be taken out directly when booking: WUG is an insurance that covers additional damage to the underbody, tires, antenna and mirrors, charged at an additional fee of €2 per day for a maximum of 14 days.

24 hour delivery service at the airport

GRCAR offers 24-hour delivery service at Thessaloniki airport and Kavala airport. A member of our team will wait for you at the airport after baggage claim (in the arrivals hall, where friends and relatives wait), holding a sign with the name of our company, GRCAR, and your name. Please provide us at booking with the exact arrival/return time, the airline, and the flight number.

• 08:00–21:00: pick-up/return is free of charge.
• 21:00–08:00: a pick-up/return fee of €15 applies.
• If your flight is delayed and delivery takes place after 21:00, the €15 fee applies.

Delivery of hotels in Chalkidiki

GRCAR delivers your rental car to almost any place and hotel in Chalkidiki. This service is included in the price or offered for a fee depending on the location. Our staff will be waiting for you at the hotel reception. For hotel-booking questions, please call us on tel: 0030 2310 762780.

One way rentals

One-way rental is possible, meaning the pick-up location and the return location are not identical. This service carries an additional fee.

Child Seats

Child seats are mandatory in Greece and are provided free of charge by GRCAR. If you need one or more child seats, you must request them when booking. For insurance reasons, you are asked to fit the child seats yourself. If returned excessively dirty or damaged, a charge applies.

Extras

You can order the following from GRCAR:

• GPS navigation system (with English language): €2/day, up to a maximum of 14 days.
• Winter tires: €4/day, up to a maximum of 14 days.

Petrol

Paid by the renter. The car is delivered with whatever amount of fuel it has, and must be returned with the same amount of fuel (e.g. a quarter tank returned with a quarter tank).

Payment

Payment is due immediately upon delivery of the car. You can pay in cash or by credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

Deposit

NO DEPOSIT is required.

Transport by boat

Transporting the vehicle by boat is possible, but requires GRCAR's written permission.

Rental outside Greek borders

Taking a GRCAR rental vehicle across a border into another country is not permitted.

Cancellation

Cancelling a booking before the rental start is free of charge. Cancellation can be done by email or by telephone on 0030 2310 762780. Please inform us as early as possible in case of cancellation.

GRCAR is not responsible for cancellations or changes made after the rental has started. No refund is given if the car is returned earlier than agreed, or if the booking is cancelled after the rental has started.

Change reservation

You can change your booking up to 7 days before the rental start. Changes can be made by email or by telephone on 0030 2310 762780. If the change affects the price, a new booking must be made; the first booking is cancelled and the second applies.

Changes after the rental has started (e.g. extending the rental, changing the return location, changing the time) should be reported as early as possible. Changes made less than 7 days before the rental start may result in longer waiting times for pick-up of your GRCAR vehicle.

Force majeure

GRCAR is not responsible for services not rendered or deficient services caused by force majeure, such as war, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, strikes, etc.
